An MTN UP2U bundle is MTN data sold through agents and resellers instead of the ordinary USSD menu. There is no public code for it: you pay a seller, the seller sends the data, and it arrives on the MTN number you gave. Because a seller, not a printed MTN price list, decides what to offer, the only fair way to shop is to compare the price per GB. This guide explains what UP2U bundles are, how their price per GB compares with the rates MTN publishes itself, and how to get one delivered to any MTN number in Ghana.
What an MTN UP2U bundle actually is
MTN sells data in more than one way. Some bundles you buy yourself from the MTN menu, using a USSD code or the MyMTN app, and the data appears on your line. Others are sold through the agent channel, and UP2U is the best known of those.
The difference matters when you are shopping:
- There is no public price board. You cannot dial a code and read the UP2U menu, so two sellers can quote different prices for what sounds like the same bundle.
- The terms still come from MTN. Validity and availability are set on MTN's side. A seller can only pass on what they are allocated, which is why sizes come and go.
- You buy with the number in mind. The data goes to the MTN number you type in, which is why these bundles are popular for sending data to family in another town.
That last point is the real appeal. You do not need to be holding the phone, and you do not need the person to do anything. You need a working MTN number and enough credit or Mobile Money to pay.
The four numbers that decide whether a bundle is good
Price alone tells you very little. Look at these instead:
- Size. How many GB actually lands on the number.
- Price per GB. Divide the price by the size. This is the only way to compare a 5GB bundle with a 20GB bundle honestly.
- Validity. A big bundle that expires before you can use it is worse than a small one that lasts. Match the expiry to how fast you actually burn data.
- Delivery. Some bundles can only be sent to the number that bought them. Others can go to any number on the network.
How UP2U prices compare with the rates MTN publishes itself
MTN does not publish a bundle-by-bundle price list for agent products. What it does publish, on its own tariff page, is the rate you pay per MB when you buy data in a given amount, plus a small short-validity product called Data Zone. Those published numbers are worth knowing, because they set the ceiling that any reseller price has to beat.
- Mid-size purchases are expensive per GB. Buying between GH₵5 and GH₵99.99 of data in one go works out at about GH₵14 per GB on MTN's published rates.
- Data Zone is a one-day top-up. The GH₵5.99 option gives 806.45MB for a single day, which is roughly GH₵7.43 per GB.
- The top rate is where MTN wins. At the GH₵399 purchase level the published rate works out at about GH₵1.86 per GB.
- MTN's bundle for that top rate is 214GB. That is the bundle the NCA confirmed in July 2025, and it is by far the cheapest price per GB on the MTN network.
The table below puts Bundlif's MTN prices next to those published figures, sorted from the lowest price per GB down.
| Where you buy | Bundle | Validity | Price per GB |
|---|---|---|---|
| MTN bundle (network) | 214 GB for GH₵399 | Not stated | GH₵1.86 |
| Bundlif — MTN | 50GB for GH₵205.00 | 30 days | GH₵4.10 |
| MTN Data Zone (network) | 806 MB for GH₵5.99 | 1 day | GH₵7.43 |
| MTN published data rate | about 3.6 GB for GH₵50 | Not stated | GH₵14.06 |
Network figures are the prices each network publishes itself (checked 13 October 2026). Bundlif prices as of 16 October 2026. Bundle sizes, validity and terms differ between routes, so compare like with like, and confirm the price on the network's own menu before you buy.
Three things are worth saying plainly about that table.
MTN is cheapest at the very top, and only at the very top. If you can pay GH₵399 in one go and you will genuinely use 214GB, nothing smaller beats roughly GH₵1.86 per GB. That is a real saving. It is also a large commitment, and the price per GB gets much worse the moment you buy in smaller amounts.
Bundlif sits in the middle, and it starts at 1GB. Bundlif's MTN bundles run from 1GB up to 50GB, so you buy the amount you will finish rather than the amount that happens to be cheapest on paper. For most people topping up a phone each month, that is the difference between a bundle that gets used and a bundle that expires.
The small, short-validity options are the expensive ones. Data Zone costs about GH₵7.43 per GB and lasts a day. The published mid-size rate is worse still, around GH₵14 per GB. Per GB, those are the worst deals on the page, even though they feel cheap because the amounts are small.

Buy MTN data nowChoosing the right MTN bundle size
There is no single best size. There is only the size that matches how you use your phone.
- 1GB to 3GB. Enough for messaging, maps, email and light browsing. A sensible pick if you spend most of your day on WiFi and only need data while you are out.
- 5GB to 10GB. The comfortable middle. This covers social media, music and a reasonable amount of video without you watching the balance.
- 15GB to 50GB. For people who stream, tether a laptop, or buy data for a household. Video is by far the biggest consumer of data, so if you watch a lot of it, buy on the large side rather than topping up twice.
Two small habits save money here. Check the balance before you buy, so you are not stacking a new bundle on top of unused data, and pick a size you can finish before it expires.
What to check before you pay
- The number. Type the MTN number carefully. A bundle sent to the wrong number may not be recoverable.
- The size and the price per GB. Both are in the table above. If two options are close, take the one with the lower price per GB.
- The validity. Make sure it fits your usage pattern.
- The signal where the phone will be. A large bundle on a weak MTN signal is money that cannot be used.

Buy MTN data nowWhere these numbers come from
Network figures on this page are the networks' own published prices, checked on 13 October 2026: MTN's tariff page (its per-MB rate by purchase amount and its Data Zone product), and the GH₵399, 214GB bundle confirmed by Ghana's National Communications Authority in its July 2025 update on the data-bundle directives. Bundlif prices come from our live price list and carry the date shown on the table above. Published prices change, and reseller products change more often, so treat every figure here as a reference point and check the price you are actually quoted before you pay.
